Preserving Australia's Naval History
Anzac Voices is the story of Gallipoli, told by the Diggers who lived through it: regular troops, senior commanders ,stretcher bearers, signal operators, a nurse and a Turkish general, as well as Australia’s official war correspondent, Charles Bean. It is an ABC Classics CD 481-1626, two disc set, and we will hear disc one on April 30th.
Recorded between 1953 and 1990 ,the compelling and deeply emotional first- hand accounts drawn from ABC Archives recall in graphic detail the circumstances and events of the Gallipoli campaign, from the innocence of enlistment to the horror of the landing and-for those who lived to tell their story- the bitter relief of homecoming. The two CD set is available from ABC Shops and we believe every Australian home should have a copy for posterity! PLEASE NOTE THE DATE!! THE 30th , NOT THE 23rd , AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY EXPECT!! —————————————————————————- The Waverley RSL is conveniently situated opposite the station in Glen Waverley, and the RSL Car park is free but you need to display a ticket on your dashboard.(obtainable from reception). The Warramunga Restaurant opens at 5.30 and a number of us take the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal before the meeting in the Sunset Room. You are very welcome to join us. We need to book tables, so please ring our secretary Rodney Phillips on 0466 983 313 by the Friday prior and let him know!
