“The Story of the Australian Naval Corvette HMAS Armidale – The History and the Ongoing Legacy to Remember the Ship and its men”.
Angus Callander, is the President of the HMAS Armidale Association, which is an association with over eighty members devoted to ensuring the legacy of HMAS Armidale is never lost to history.
This year, 2022, represents the 80th anniversary of the sinking of Armidale and the tragic loss of 100 men. Angus’s father was one of the few to survive the ordeal.
Angus has been in Executive Positions throughout his forty-year involvement in the commercial fishing industry, and he worked for the MG Kailis Group of companies for many of these years. Angus also served the industry on numerous state and national boards, and continues to be a strong advocate for the fishing industry.
The NHS-WA Chapter talk is on Monday March 21st at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated.
