TOPIC: The Royal Perth Yacht Club, founded in 1865.
The Royal Perth Yacht Club is one of the world’s most prestigious Yacht Clubs. The “Royal” prefix was received from Queen Victoria in The Club has an outstanding and proud history over the last 157 years, which includes the history of Catalina Seaplane Base with the Club, the meaning and significance of the defaced Blue Ensign which the Club flies, the era of the America’s Cup, and world famous RPYC yachtsmen and yachtswomen.
The Speaker: Commodore Shawn Offer joined the Royal Perth Yacht Club in 2009 and moved through the ranks to Rear Commodore in 2017, Vice Commodore in 2019 and became the Commodore in 2021.
Commodore Offer has sailed in the Tuesday Nights, Wednesdays and Saturday races over the years, acted as Captain Dinghies, participated in Geographe Race Weeks, the Cape Naturaliste Long Passage Race, as well as the RPYC Racing Teams locally and in London.When not sailing, the Commodore’s other passion is being the Business Partner of Fresh Provisions, which specialises in fresh foods and gourmet grocery
The NHS-WA Chapter talk is on Monday May 16th at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated.
