The New Guinea mountainous coastline gives an excellent backdrop to the corvettes which were heavily involved in duties in the New Guinea area during Second World War.

  • About HMAS Parkes (l)

    HMAS Parkes was one of fifty-six Bathurst Class, Australian Minesweepers (commonly known as corvettes) built during World War 2 in Australian shipyards. HMAS Parkes was heavily involved in convoy escort duties.
