THE NHS-WA CHAPTER MEETING ON MONDAY OCTOBER 18th.
The talk by Dr George Kailis is:
“The Passion for the Pearl. The History of the Pearling Industry in Western Australia”.
Dr George Kailis is the Executive Chair of the M.G. Kailis Group, one of Australia’s largest fishing and marine industries. George is also Adjunct Professor of Management and Law at the School of Business of the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle. George’s Doctorate was in the field of fisheries policy and law, with an emphasis on legal history.
George is a Director of the Commonwealth Fisheries Association and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Australian National Centre for Oceans and Resource Security. In 2021, the WA Fishing Industry Council awarded George its Seafood Industry Leadership Award, recognising his contribution to growth and innovation for the industry in WA, and his commitment to sustainable fisheries practices around the world.
The talk is on Monday October 18th at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin Fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated. There is a cash bar open before and after the talk.
