Dr George Carter is a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon. He undertook his medical studies while serving as a volunteer in the Royal Australian Navy. After completing his medical studies, Dr Carter served as a Medical Officer, with seagoing service during the Vietnam War and later in the Reserve Force.
Recently, Dr Carter had four trips to the United States Civil War sites, which provided him with up to date insights from shipwrecks into the technologies developed in the period from 1861 to 1865.
Dr Carter’s is wearing the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers tie. The insignia is a divers helmet. The role of the Clearance Divers is to decommission underwater mines and explosives.
The talk is on Monday July 19th at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated. There is a cash bar open before and after the talk.
