Captain Doug Theobold, CSC RAN, is the Commander of the Royal Australian Navy Submarine Force at HMAS Stirling at Garden Island, WA. Captain Theobold will give the talk on Monday August 16th, 2021, on:
“SUBMARINES INTO THE FUTURE”
Captain Theobold from Esperance, WA, joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1987. He completed his shore submarine training in 1989 and qualified as a submariner whilst transiting the Sea of Marmara in HMAS Oxley during its historical 75th Anniversary of Gallipoli deployment. Captain Theobold has worked on the first three Collins Class submarines, has completed submarine Command courses in the Netherlands and the USA, and has worked as part of an overseas exchange program at Portsmouth UK and in Washington, USA. He has been posted in command of Collins Class submarines on three occasions, including as Commissioning CO of HMAS Rankin.
Captain Theobold was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) in the 2017 Australia Day Honours in the field of submarine operations and fleet anti-submarine warfare training.
In December 218, Captain Theobold became the Commander of the Submarine Force at Garden Island, WA.

The talk is on Monday August 16th at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated. There is a cash bar open before and after the talk.
