TOPIC: The highlights of a Seagoing Career in the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy, plus a brief overview of the current role as Senior ADF Officer in WA
Commodore Ivan Ingham AM RAN, is the Senior Australian Defence Force Officer based at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island, WA, which is the home to the second largest Naval Base in Australia, where there are many crucial points of interest to the defence of Australia.
Cdre Ingham was educated and trained in Dartmouth and Greenwich in England, and served for 20 years in many Royal Navy ships. He experienced repeated operational deployments to the South Atlantic, Mediterranean, Adriatic, Middle East and Asia. He served in the Gulf during the Iraq War in 2003 and was awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service for his role bombarding targets on the Al Faw Peninsula.
He transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 2001, directed Border Protection operations; was involved in the Middle East for Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Piracy operations; and developed the Fleet Warfare Plan, which was the Warfighting Campaign Plan; and established the Maritime Task Group.
In 2011 Cdre Ingham was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
