The next NHSA WA Chapter meeting will be held on Monday May 15th at 6pm at the Claremont Tennis Club.
TOPIC: “From H.M.A.S. Ovens, an Oberon Class submarine of British design, built in the UK, now located at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle, to Collins Class and Virginia Class submarines, to the planned AUKUS nuclear submarines. What does the future hold?”
SPEAKER: Roy Stall joined the Royal Australian Navy as a 16-year-old in the first intake of Junior Recruits, graduated from the Royal Australian Naval College in Jervis Bay, NSW, and served in various Navy vessels.
Roy has had extensive experience for many years as a tour guide and tour guide supervisor at the Fremantle Maritime Museum on H.M.A.S. Ovens, an Oberon Class submarine. Roy was also a guide on the replica Dutch ship, Duyfken, which was recently located to the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.
Prior to his retirement, Roy taught “Maritime English” in Maritime Universities in China and Japan.
The NHS-WA Chapter talk is on Monday May 15th, 2023 at 6:00pm at the Claremont Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club, also at Claremont Station opposite the Tennis Club, and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee.
