HMA Ships HOBART, ARUNTA, and WARRAMUNGA, with HMS NEWFOUNDLAND, provided covering fire for the Australian amphibious assault on Wewak, New Guinea, Operation Deluge. In the assault HMA Ships COLAC and IPSWICH were employed as troop landing ships.
