HMAS Sydney II rejoined the Fleet at Gibraltar after a period of quarantine due to an outbreak of measles followed by an outbreak of mumps. The newly commissioned cruiser had been on her voyage home when directed to join the 2nd Cruiser Squadron due to the Abyssinian Crisis.
