The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS LAUNCESTON was commissioned at Launceston, Tasmania.

The Armidale class patrol frigate HMAS CHILDERS was commissioned at Cairns, Queensland.

July 2, 2007

HMAS Toowoomba II returned to Australia after operations in the Middle East region.

June 28, 2007

The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS WOLLONGONG was commissioned at Sydney, New South Wales.

The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS BUNDABERG was commissioned at Bundaberg, Queensland.

The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS BROOME was commissioned at Broome, Western Australia.

HMAS Dubbo II decommissioned

November 29, 2006

Loss of an Australian Army Blackhawk helicopter which crashed while attempting to land on aft flight deck of HMAS Kanimbla II. It was lost over the side of the ship, resulting in the deaths of two of the ten crew members. Kanimbla was deployed as a part of Operation QUICKSTEP, the ADF contingency operation to evacuate Australians from Fiji in the face of an emerging coup.

The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS ARARAT was commissioned in Melbourne, Victoria.

October 26, 2006

The last ANZAC class frigate HMAS PERTH was commissioned.

October 7, 2006

HMAS Geraldton II decommissioned

September 29, 2006

The Armidale class patrol boat HMAS MAITLAND was commissioned at Newcastle, New South Wales.

September 16, 2006

HMAS Westralia II decommissioned. Since commissioning, Westralia (II) had steamed more than 457 908 nautical miles and transferred more than 400 million dollars worth of diesel. Following her decommissioning she was jointly acquired by the AGR and Helix Energy Solutions groups with the intention she be converted into a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel.

In addition HMAS Sirius commissioned. She was built as a double-hulled commercial product tanker, MV Delos and purchased by the Commonwealth Government on 3 June 2004 It was the first time since 1935 that the RAN had held a combined decommissioning and commissioning ceremony
