I forgot my condition at the sight I beheld there. The rising sun was just coming out of the ocean. Black against the burnished gold of the half sun, appearing above the water, was the outline of the stern half of the enemy ship, rising clear out of the water, propellers whirling at such a rate that we could hear their noise. For a full four seconds the ship paused there in its dive and, with a lurch slid beneath the waves.
