Brynmor Wheatley Mussared entered the Royal Australian Naval College at Jervis Bay in 1932, as a young cadet. On passing out from the college in 1935 he was awarded ‘maximum time’ (early promotion to Lieutenant) as well as the prize for engineering-seamanship-navigation. An outstanding career in the RAN would follow. Here he recalls the life and times of his fellow graduates who found themselves in the midst of what they had trained for – a war of epic proportions, which gave a talented group of young men unprecedented opportunities.
