Australian War Memorial
The Australian War Memorial (AWM) is a rich and diverse source of information about Australia’s war history.
AWM is a shrine, a world-class museum and an extensive archive of documents, records and memorabilia. AWM is located in Canberra and many items can only be viewed in person.
However AWM has an outstanding website that permits 24/7 access to many documents and archival records including a variety of well-presented, well-produced resource material.
AWM has on-line versions of the Official Histories of First World War, Second World War including volumes dealing specifically with the Royal Australian Navy. Also included are references for the histories of the Korean War, Southeast Asian Conflicts, and Peacekeeping and Post-Cold War Operations.
The Nominal Roll for World War 1 is also managed by AWM.
Sea Power Centre – Australia
Sea Power Centre – Australia (Sea Power) is a unit of the Royal Australian Navy.
Sea Power is actively involved in the operations of the RAN but it also has a brief, like the Society, to preserve, develop and promote Australian naval history.
Its website is a rich source of historical information about the operations of the RAN in general and also about certain ships and engagements.
