18. Galatea Gate. This gate is also located in Nelson Place, and in my day was the main personnel entrance to the Dockyard. It is south of the junction of Pitchboiler and Norval Roads with Olive Bank Road. It is named for HMS Galatea, which, under the command of HRH Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, visited Melbourne in late 1867 and early 1868.
