Aus-Ships 2021: Fifth Edition by Robert Fildes and Rex Cox.

The previous edition was offered as a CD and now this revised and improved edition comes as a USB. This information was originally produced in 2008 by Ships Worldwide (NSW) Pty Ltd – a company producing eBooks on maritime topics. This edition is available from the publisher, inclusive of p&p at $35.00. The easiest way to order is via Paypal (Paypal account not required) just go to www.shipsworldwide.company both for ordering details and to view sample pages of AUS-Ships 2021. For those wishing to use a cheque send your order and payment to Ships Worldwide, 1001/281 Elizabeth Street, Sydney, NSW 2000.

This vast compendium of Australian vessels has been increased to 5,400 pages listing past and present ships, covering some 7,000 vessels with over 4,500 illustrations. This includes naval ships, both past and present, plus merchant ships requisitioned and chartered during wartime and other emergencies, ranging from the First World War to the charter of the ferry Jervis Bay as a support ship during the East Timor conflict.

This e-Book is now in landscape format where every vessel with an image has its own individual page. Many have further references included. Military forces also include hull/pennant numbers as well as dividing the vessels by ship classes. There is a list of Australian shipbuilding yards. A separate index and bibliography are also included.

This comprehensive and easy to use document is a credit to those involved in its compilation. This small but powerful package saves a lot of library space and is a useful reference and research tool which should be welcomed by those interested in maritime history.
