This book was written by a serving member of HMAS Murchison’s ship’s company about the time that ship was engaged in river patrols during the Korean War in 1951.
Murchison, in company with frigates of the Royal Navy and Royal New Zealand Navy, was tasked with protecting the area surrounding the Han River in South Korea. All ships came under fire, and this story of Murchison and her activities gives a graphic account of “how it was.”
Of the four RAN frigates involved in Korea, Murchison, having been the second frigate committed to the war, stands out as being more actively involved under the steady command of LCDR A Dollard RAN, as the book shows. The book is well illustrated and includes a number of maps showing the areas of operations.
A good read and at this price it is good value and an interesting tale for Korea veterans as well as naval historians in general.
