HMAS PARRAMATTA, the first fighting ship of the Royal Australian Navy. PARRAMATTA now [Ed. August 1972] rusts on the mud flats above Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River but in the next few months the society will be launching a public appeal to remove the bow and stern section of the destroyer for incorporation in a naval memorial on the banks of the Parramatta River. The accompanying two photographs depict PARRAMATTA in 1914.
