I was very interested to read in the March Bulletin the history and background of HMAS Terka submitted by D J Davis. I was the second in command of Clearance Diving Team One at that time and had responsibility for the task of reducing her height below LWM to give, if my memory serves me correctly, 7 fathoms over her.
She was in remarkably good condition and put up quite a fight! I cannot remember how much explosive we used but it was quite a bit over a period of a couple of weeks. Once we had fired a shot, that was it for the day as visibility went to zero due in part to her bunkers being full of coal. I still have one of her scuttles as a memento.
I thought I would write and let you know of my involvement as it may be of some interest to the author if he served in her.
