There has been a successful and happy outcome to the saga of the naming of the new Warramunga. (See the March issue of the Review, page 21). The following letter has been received by Commodore Merson from the Chief of Naval Staff.
Commodore J.L.W. Merson RAN Rtd Federal President The Naval Association of Australia. Dear Red,
I am writing to formally advise you that, in his capacity as Administrator and on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, Rear Admiral Peter Sinclair AC RAN (Rtd) has approved the name change of the third ANZAC frigate to HMAS WARRAMUNGA.
I have appreciated the support of the veterans’ community on this matter, and trust that this decision will provide some Christmas cheer for your members when announced.
Yours sincerely,
Rod Taylor,
Chief of Naval Staff
