National Archives of Australia

When Cockatoo Dockyard was closed a large volume of historical records was transferred to the National Archives of Australia. The records include plans, photographs and other documents relating to the development of the island, its buildings and equipment, the ships which were constructed and repaired there and the other activities of the dockyard. The records can be accessed at the national Archives in Sydney. In 2000, to facilitate access, the National Archives published Cockatoo Island Dockyard — A Guide to the Records, by Margaret Chambers.
