Course was continued to the south- westward, and at 0900 (Z-4) HMS Leander and HMAS Canberra anchored at Port Louis, Mauritius. The tanker Olcades proceeded alongside HMAS Canberra and HMS Leander then berthed on her other side. Fuelling was completed at 1750; HMS Leander having taken 1084 tons and HMAS Canberra 1835 tons.
The Norwegian and Chinese survivors and the German prisoners of war were transferred to the control of the Military authorities during the afternoon, in accordance with Commander-in-Chiefs 1008/6.
